a brief reprive from drought

Late September After Dark

I felt you
Were gone all summer,
Maybe more
At times I saw glimpses,
Dark forms drifting ever away
And I knew
Some lucky other danced in your presence

My place learned to nurse its
Rotten tomatoes and cracked mud
But cannot mask the stench of
Lost opportunity
Once twittering glass chimes
Yield to the stillness of your absence

Rumors of your return stir hopes
Then assault me slowly, simmer and fade
Like earthworms on a sidewalk
Baked under an August sun
I feel for their little crumpled hides
And scrape them to the dry grass
With my shoe

Tonight with only a small warning
You came, perfuming the breeze
Long before I heard your first taps
Enveloping my land, my life
You kiss my lips as I run out to meet you
I wonder if I have forgot how to dance

On Acting White

Jesse Jackson reportedly said Barack Obama was "..acting too white..." in regards to his response to the incident in Jena, LA. where six black juveniles have been arrested for murder. I am by no means a fan of Barack Obama, but when a man wants to speak his mind, let him. If you disagree, that's your right. But if you want to start lecturing him on how to think, then you are saying not everyone has the right to think as they please, and that is truly un-American

This story is wrong from so many angles. How do you act white? Is there a 'How To Be White' handbook I missed while growing up? Mr. Jackson is apparently under the impression that all white people act in a predetermined manner. Does this thinking also spill over to the other races? If the Reverend believes he knows how a racially mixed person should act, then he must certain know exactly how everyone should act. 'Since I am black, and the self-prescribed leader of the black people, think like me ."

And what of the actual issue. Instead of countering Mr. Obama on the facts, Jackson attacks the man. Possibly he has been studying his liberal handbook again. "When you don't have a leg to stand on, attempt to cut off the legs of your opponent."
Perhaps Barack Obama should cheat on his wife and extort money from organizations under threat of boycott if he wants to appear 'more black.' It works for Jesse.

This is definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle white.

Yours Truly,
Scott

Hello and howareya

Congratulations.

You have reached my blog. I hope the words you read here reach deep into your intellect to counter the tasteless soup of media drivel. I pray my thoughts enlighten your soul, take you to new heights of understanding.

OK, so you made it this far. Possibly you have sensed a bit of sarcasm. Once again, congratulations. (If not, you might want to consider exiting the ride now before the monsters come out.)

Just a small morsel of information about me before I continue. I am a virtual 'baby' when it comes to blogging. You are reading my big intro, my final push out of the womb and into the world of opinions and assholes, so to speak. With that being said, I do hope you enjoy some of what I have to say, or at least hope it keeps you up on those long nights of surfing.

And one more thing. Thanks for stopping by,
Yours truly,
Me
