On Acting White

Jesse Jackson reportedly said Barack Obama was "..acting too white..." in regards to his response to the incident in Jena, LA. where six black juveniles have been arrested for murder. I am by no means a fan of Barack Obama, but when a man wants to speak his mind, let him. If you disagree, that's your right. But if you want to start lecturing him on how to think, then you are saying not everyone has the right to think as they please, and that is truly un-American

This story is wrong from so many angles. How do you act white? Is there a 'How To Be White' handbook I missed while growing up? Mr. Jackson is apparently under the impression that all white people act in a predetermined manner. Does this thinking also spill over to the other races? If the Reverend believes he knows how a racially mixed person should act, then he must certain know exactly how everyone should act. 'Since I am black, and the self-prescribed leader of the black people, think like me ."

And what of the actual issue. Instead of countering Mr. Obama on the facts, Jackson attacks the man. Possibly he has been studying his liberal handbook again. "When you don't have a leg to stand on, attempt to cut off the legs of your opponent."
Perhaps Barack Obama should cheat on his wife and extort money from organizations under threat of boycott if he wants to appear 'more black.' It works for Jesse.

This is definitely a case of the pot calling the kettle white.

Yours Truly,
Scott
